You probably already know that ultraprocessed foods are not good for you. Such foods include sugary drinks, breakfast cereals, and packaged foods of all
kinds.
Perhaps you have family members who are still eating these kinds of foods. Some recent studies might help persuade them to change their
ways.
A recent study based on data from the UK Biobank showed that for every 10% increase in the amount of ultraprocessed food, there was an increased incidence of cancer. An interesting and perhaps more
readable discussion of the article appeared on Science Direct.
Similar studies have shown that those who eat ultraprocessed foods have an increase in cognitive decline and in heart disease.
This data is sobering, especially since many people in today’s world eat a lot of these unhealthy foods. For me personally, it just reinforces my conviction that
my time in the kitchen is worth the benefits to my health.
