Poor Nutrition, Poor Thinking

The world seems like a very angry place these days. There are many reasons why people can have disagreements. But could poor diet contribute to the level of vitriol we see currently, making it hard to have rational discussion and compromise?

A recent article on the website The Conversation suggests that is the case. In the article, Dr. Bonnie Kaplan and Dr. Julia Rucklidge, authors of The Better Brain review the extensive research about how diet affects mental health.

I know in my own life, and in my medical practice, I have seen evidence that this is the case. When better nutrition and detoxification improves health overall, issues such as depression and anger become more manageable. There is a role for emotional and spiritual work as well, but that is easier and more effective when health is better.
